RAINBOW BRIDGE
 

The poem below is dedicated to my "Roo". He was my best mate, my shadow, my best friend. Sadly he died at the age of 16 years - Run free my friend.

YOU WILL ALWAYS WALK WITH ME

Because you will not be forever,
Hope against time though I may,
I paint your picture in my memory,
Eyes blue with age, muzzle gone grey.

Because you walked with me in Sprintime,
Puppy-clumsy, running free.
As you grew, we grew together -
You became part of me.

Because you shared with me my sorrows,
Not understanding - simply there.
Often spurring me to laughter -
My friend, you know how much I care.

Because the years have slowed your fleetness,
though your spirit still is strong,
I promise I will take more time now,
so that you can go along.

Because you do not fear the future,
Living only in the now,
I draw strength from your example -
Yet time keeps slipping by somehow.

Because the day will soon be coming
When I will no longer see
You rise to greet me - but in my memory
You will always walk with me.

 YOU ARE GONE

Sunlight streams through the window pane unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember, it's where you used to lie, but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet, and muted echoes sound....
then I remember, It's where your paws joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road, and up beyond the hill, 
then I remember it can't be yours.... your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memorials in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend until we meet above.

MY BEST FRIEND

If it be I grow frail and weak
And pain should wake me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can't be won
You will be sad I understand
Don't let your grief stray your hand
For this day more than the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I've been saved
Do not grieve that it should be you
Who has to decide this thing to do
we've been so close we two these years

FAITHFUL FRIEND

If you've ever known the joyful sound of barks that fill the air
A sloppy kiss, a friendly paw, a quite adoring stare.
If you've ever had a special friend to share a tear or two,
Or may be just a wagging tale, to lift you when your blue.
If you've ever felt the wrenching pain, that only death can send,
Then you have lost not just a dog, you've truly lost a friend.
But God is good and treasures love and there at Heavens gate

"From paddock to show ring" - Best Exhibit In Show at the Victorian Kelpie Specialty show 1994. "Tigger" is the sire of Best In Show winners and has produced exceptional progeny. "Tigger" is the sire of Australian Grand Champion Uluru.   "Tigger" did not like the show ring and was happier working stock free out in the paddocks.   After "Tigger's" Best Exhibit in Show we did not show him again.  "Tigger" went on to sire some top puppies and run free in the paddocks.

"CJ" was a house dog and did not like being shown.  He was only shown a few times for a Minor Puppy in show and Challenges.   We stopped showing "CJ" by the time he was 12 months old.  He retired to be my mother's house dog and went on to sire excellent coloured pups.  His son "Bear" won his title by the time he was 9 months old and then went on to win his Grand Champion Title.

"Lass" was the first red/tan female that I exhibited in the show ring.  "Lass" attained her Australian title by the time she was in Junior.  Being red/tan it was a hard battle as Judges were often not game enough to put "Lass" over a solid colour.  "Lass" was a free moving, sound Kelpie who moved like a feather floating across the ground.   "Lass" has won Classes in Show both at Speciality and at All Breeds levels.

"Jaffa" talked with her eyes and although only a small Kelpie in size could out move better than some of the tallest dogs.  "Jaffa" produced from a mating to Aust. Ch. Webarnon Just Jess - Australian Grand Champion Wingdari Little Jessie - Swedish and International Champion Wingdari Colonial Lass - Wingdari Hey True Blue and Aust. Ch. Wingdari Swaggies Lady.   There were six puppies in the litter and four of them were shown - the other two puppies went to pet homes.   From these four puppies between them they were Best in Show winners at both All Breeds and Speciality Shows and one was a Swedish and International Show Champion.

"Jess" was a beautiful moving, sound, honest Kelpie.   "Jess" was a Royal Challenge winner, Class in Show winner and produced some top puppies.  Dam of Australian Champion Wingdari Swaggies Charm and Australian Champion Wingdari Swaggies Dream.   Both of these bitches between them have been Best in Show, Royal and Class in Show winners.

"Katie" has to be one of the sweetest, gentlest Kelpies I have ever owned.   Kind with puppies, children and people.  Katie was only shown very sparingly but won Classes in Show.   She was retired from showing due to a serious injury.
