| "Tigger" well what a dog. You never knew he was around - gentle, quite and always there when you needed him. "Tigger" went off working with cattle and sheep as a puppy. This boy took to working stock like ducks do to the water. "Tigger" worked for a few years and then he came home back to Wingdari. I decided to take "Tigger" showing again as he did really well as a puppy. True to the Kelpie spirit he showed his heart off and gave me one hundred per cent. The Victorian Kelpie Speciality came up and I took "Tigger", his son the great "Uluru", "Amber" Tigger's half sister and a number of other dogs. Well "Tigger" just back a few months - "OUT OF THE PADDOCK AND INTO THE SHOW RING" - took out the BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW, "Uluru" his son took out the Runner Up Best Exhibit in Show and "Amber" won the Challenge bitch and opposite sex in show as "Uluru" was also out of the Australian bred class as was "Amber". The Wingdari dogs - all related along the lines to "Tigger" won a number of the Classes in Show as well as the top awards. Mrs Shepperd - the judge on the day - commented to me after the show "that dog never took his eyes off me as if to say don't you dare pass me by". Typical of a great Kelpie and working dog always using their eyes, alert and watching for a command. This judge said that she just loved this dog. Well "Tigger" has gone over the rainbow to his mates. Kelpies that are shown in the ring can work if introduced to stock in the correct way. I only have old black and white photographs of "Tigger" but this photo shows the great depth of chest and tuck up that all good Kelpies should have - a good place for a big heart. "Tigger's" sister Aust. Grand Ch. Wingdari Little Jessie was a multi Best In Show winning girl and had many great wins to her name and died at the age of 17 yrs. Another sister of "Tigger's", in Sweden, was an International Champion and top winning Kelpie and she died at the age of 12 yrs. Rest in peace old dog. |
